CEA antibody clone CEA31 recognizes carcinoembryonic antigen, a tumor-associated glycoprotein expressed at high levels in many epithelial cancers. CEA belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and functions in cell adhesion, playing a role in tumor growth and metastasis. NSJ Bioreagents provides this antibody as a high-quality tool for cancer pathology and biomarker studies.
The antibody produces membranous and cytoplasmic staining in adenocarcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, and breast. Its reliable detection has made it a standard reagent in panels used to classify carcinomas. By identifying CEA positive tumors, this antibody supports both diagnostic evaluation and experimental cancer research.
In oncology, it is frequently applied to studies of tumor metastasis, where CEA expression correlates with invasive potential. Researchers also employ the antibody to investigate circulating tumor markers, as soluble CEA can be detected in patient serum.
The antibody supports translational research, where it is used to evaluate novel therapeutic strategies targeting CEA. It provides investigators with a reliable means of monitoring antigen levels in cell-based and tissue-based systems.
Validated for multiple applications, the antibody consistently provides strong staining with minimal background. Alternate names include CEACAM5 antibody, adenocarcinoma antigen antibody, and carcinoembryonic antigen marker antibody.
The concentration stated for each application is a general starting point. Variations in protocols, secondaries and substrates may require the antibody to be titered up or down for optimal performance.
1. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in pH 9 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
Human colon carcinoma extract was used as the immunogen for this antibody.
Store the CEA antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
